Private Residence
Pittsford, NY

The existing pool area at this historic private residence was badly deteriorated, and lacked both spatial definition and attractive areas for sitting.  Responding to the client’s desire to enhance the pool area, a schematic plan for improvements was developed, with the primary goal of creating a stronger and more complimentary relationship between the pool, the residence, and adjacent garden spaces.  This was achieved through the construction of a brick wall, which provides enclosure for the area and reinforces the pool’s classical form, and a new porch addition that allows easy access to the pool area from the home.  Other new additions to the pool area include bluestone paving, trellis work, decorative luminaries, cast stone pool coping, furnishings, and extensive planting.  In addition to preparing complete design and construction documents for this project, Bayer Associates also provided construction administration services.
