Bayer Associates prepared a master plan for improvement of the grounds of this historic
residence in Brighton, New York. The master plan was the
first step in a comprehensive effort to restore the grounds of the estate
to their original elegance. Upon completion of the master plan the
project proceeded to the implementation phase, which was
completed in 2006. This project was viewed by both the homeowner and the
design team as a restoration endeavor. The designers made every effort to
fully understand the character of the estate as it was originally
conceived, and to recreate it through careful planning,
design, and selection of materials. New
garden features were designed to be stylistically compatible with the
existing residence, and consistent with the garden’s historic character.
Significant components of the project included driveway realignment, entry
court development,
terrace restoration, garden pool development, bridge restoration, rear
yard gateway development, garden house development, and the introduction
of new amenities and garden ornaments. |
